The Story

Traditionally used to make pea coats for mariners, the dense weave of melton makes it superbly resistant to both water and wind. A meticulously constructed shirt for the inclement weather of the Pacific Northwest, our versatile Modern Melton Wool is a contemporary take on a timeless design—made from warm heavyweight post-consumer recycled wool, it’s soft, sturdy and naturally insulating, with elevated comfort and breathability for all-day wear.

Made in Canada

17-oz 80% post-consumer recycled wool/20% nylon. Warm, durable and naturally weather-resistant, this comfortable heavyweight blend is manufactured in a unique dye-free process for reduced environmental impact. Melton starts out a touch stiff, but softens quickly with wear.

Our traditional tailored fit has a moderately slim cut; to wear the Modern Melton as an overcoat, or to fit a more robust frame, we recommend moving up one size. For further details, see our sizing chart.

Wash in cold water and hang to dry. Melton wool is naturally anti-bacterial and stain-resistant, and to reduce energy and water use, we recommend washing only when necessary. Less washing also gives your garments a longer life.
